Providing guidance and support for an empowering birth.
Bella Vita Doula Services
"A Beautiful Life"
Hello, Thanks for visiting.
A Birth Doula is a non-medical trained professional that provides support throughout pregnancy and birth while providing evidence-based education. I am a certified birth doula with DONA International, the first and largest doula organization in North America. I am also proudly VBAC certified through the VBAC link.
I'm Jordan Allen. Originally from the Chicago suburbs but have been calling Colorado home since 2013. I live near the foothills in Golden with my husband, raising our two children. When I'm not attending to clients, I enjoy gardening, hiking and spending time outdoors.
I became a mother in 2016 and welcomed our second child in 2018. I first started hearing the comments during my pregnancy, being told childbirth was awful and good luck breastfeeding because I will want to give up. My baby wasn't even born yet and already I was starting to doubt myself. As a new mother, I was overwhelmed and always questioning if I was doing it right. It didn't take me long to see there's so much pressure on new mothers to fit in with societies expectations. Do I have the newest gadget or bassinet or swaddle? Does my baby sleep in the crib and for the entire night? These are common questions I would ask myself and heard other new mothers talk about. In the weeks after bringing my new baby home, I quickly learned it didn't matter how my baby slept in the night or that I didn't have the newest, trendiest baby item. What was important, was learning to trust my instincts and do what I felt was best for me and my baby. I started to become more confident and more in-tuned with my body and baby. I became fascinated with my baby's primal ways to communicate with the outside world. Most modern cultures tell us that holding our babies too much is not good for the baby, to sleep train straight away, etc. This all goes against what our maternal instincts tell us to do and what all mammalian mothers have been doing with their babies for the last thousand years or more. As modern and convenient lifestyles have taken over, we also forgot that supporting our baby's needs, not with gadgets or what's in the books, but with our own maternal instincts. Our babies do expect to be held often, to be talked to and swayed in our arms most of the day, and to wake in the night to feed until their little bodies are strong enough. Even before our babies are born, our modern culture created so much doubt and fear surrounding pregnancy and birth. We are told birth is dangerous and television shows it as dramatic and scary. In reality, for most healthy women who have a healthy pregnancy, birth can actually be a beautiful and primal experience. Over the last hundred years, we have forgotten that we are perfectly designed to give birth. Like our ancestors before us, trusting our bodies and learning how perfectly designed it is to grow, birth, feed and care for our babies. All of this inspired me to become a birth doula so I can help more mothers believe in their own bodies and instincts to have a confident and empowering transition to motherhood.
I believe the more we learn about physiological birth, not only leads to a smoother and calmer birth experience, but to a more confident mother in birth and early postpartum. When a mother is confident in making informed choices, while trusting her instincts, her birth and breastfeeding journey will be a positive experience. As a birth doula, I aim to help inform and educate expecting families to become confident and empowered to make choices that's right for them in their birth and postpartum journeys.

As a certified birth doula, I begin by preparing both the mind and body for birth from the start. With a focus on evidence-based education and personalized care, I help expecting families make empowered and informed decisions that's right for their individual birth experience. I debunk the myths and outdated medical practice that are unfortunately still used today. I help families learn they do have options and that each birth experience is unique, and will likely give a positive birth outcome, no matter where or how they birth.
As your doula, I will respect your choices and provide resources and guidance when needed. It's important for me to not only build trust with my clients, but also a friendship. By offering two in-home prenatal meetings, this allows us to get to know each other and learn how to best support you and your specific needs. During my prenatal meetings, I will break down the mechanics of birth and breastfeeding while learning what is important to you in your birth. My goal for every client is to leave you and your partner feeling excited and confident for your birth experience. I will show how proper nutrition and body stretches can help with a smoother pregnancy and birth as well as deep diving into the amazing process our body and hormones do to help bring a new life into the world. Lastly, I will also help prepare your partner on providing physical and emotional support whether that's in pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.
